Zaragoza is candidate city to become European Capital of Culture and hopes to win but it is also sure that the journey is more important than the destination.
To be European Capital of Culture in 2016 -with a Polish city- must reflect the ambitious renovation plan and the new cultural model that has been launched by Zaragoza.
This model comes from a Strategic Plan (Plan Estratégico-PECZ) to give sense to the brand Zaragoza Cultura in order to turn our city into a referent in creation and culture, and establish a new cultural policy, a new method of administration, boast creativity and cultural industries, and make possible a new and huge list of cultural equipments for the citizen.
This Strategic Plan has been made through processes of regulated participation, in other words, as a global debate and joint decision taking on new concrete aspects:
The result of all the above mentioned information will be new contemporary and dynamic management bodies, new production criteria, education plans for enjoying culture, measures for the creation and support of the culture industry, arts training, European cooperation, new city values, participation criteria, plans for the children and the young, investments and equipments, and culture urbanism in every district.
Whether Zaragoza is elected or not as European Capital of Culture 2016, it will be a cultural city.
