The Ebro Cities Network is an initiative that pretends to launch stable projects in the framework of the Candidacy of Zaragoza 2016, with the aim to count with all the Spanish cities placed on the banks of the river Ebro.
The first cities to form part of this project are: Alfaro, Logroño, Tudela, Mequinenza, Alagón, Utebo, Calahorra, Mora D'Ebre, Caspe and Zaragoza.
The first proposals of the network under the idea "Un río de cultura y creación" ("A River of Culture and Creation") are already been projected. Among them the EbrOdyssey, a water parade that will take to every municipality a day of cultural exchange with Zaragoza, and that will put in contact the associations of rafts and the Aragonese street art companies with the French company Ilotopie. This group has a wide history in researching in public places and in landscape as scenery. EbrOdyssey will have the possibility to travel too during 2016 to other European rivers.
The great music festival in Toulouse, "Crazy River" moves its events in 2016 to the Ebro, as a reflection of the European cultural diversity. And finally, within the program the "Ebro road to Santiago" that links us to France, an international network of guesthouses for pilgrims will be built.
The municipalities taken part, will focus on generating new ideas and sharing spaces, turning the Ebro into an argument of cultural collaboration in the framework of 2016. Therefore, Zaragoza widens its candidacy along the course of the Ebro, establishing new links of cultural collaboration between municipalities and communities.
